Mask
Sure I do fads...so shoot me.

The earliest concept of my business card was for bead and textile art, not jewelry; and I made this mask for a show held in an Ann Arbor gallery now long defunct. The edge of the piece is not particularly well finished, and I didn't put a great deal of time into it; but I felt a little sorry for some of the other maskmakers, who waited a very long time to get their gorgeous pieces back. Though absolutely useless except perhaps as a wall decoration, I'm rather fond of this piece, which measures perhaps 6” across.

It's embroidered with a mix of embroidery floss and perle cottons on a silky white fabric, decorated with dyed howlite, lapis lazuli, and black czech (above the eyebrows), turquoise seed beads, (left cheek) and amethyst beads (chin, right cheek) and accented with colored pencil. Location unknown.

(File) originally created sometime in 1998
