Fugly Beads
no, that's Fun Ugly Beads, not ... ---never mind!
I've tried a lot of media over the years. Frankly if I had to guess I'd say my true love might've been embroidery, or comics, but it never occurred to me I could make a living doing either of those. But if all the dabbling has taught me nothing else, it has made clear to me that the reason that the classifieds traditionally seek people with `3 yrs exp' is that it takes about that long to get to what I call journey[wo]man status---i.e. a decent grasp of the materials and technique.
Along the way, you should be having some spectacular failures. As one of my favorite drawing instructors said, you're gonna make a 1000 bad drawings. Get 'em out of the way, early in your career. Be bold!
Well, failure I can do, and this collection of pages documents some of the ones bad enough to be fun. I hope, anyway.
