Antique CurliQs
My interpretation of roman glass
Like most artists, I come up with new stuff by combining techniques
from old stuff. Someday Finally
I post a strand of golden PIG pixies I
made for a guy who wanted something that resembled roman glass, or the
iridescent favrile Tiffany lamps in the shape of tulips and whatnot.
In the meantime, it occurred to me that I could get an even more
antique appearance by adding baking soda to the pixie dust, and then I
tried it over transparent curliQ beads. Thus, these beads came out of
mixing three different surface techniques---trailing, coating with
hilite pixie, and coating with baking soda.
They're certainly not to everyone's taste, but every once in awhile someone comes along for whom these beads are just perfect.
Ah, the joys of Bullseye 1mm stringer.
